I am writing this from my new home office, which looks out onto a park! It is such a joy to be able to hear birdsong, especially as I now live in a megacity. If I am honest, I am still adjusting to living in Lima. It’s such a big city but there are many good things about it, which I am learning about.
Carlos and I are enjoying making our new flat a home and having people over. It feels like it’s been a bit of a whirlwind since I got back to Peru in April, so now feel that I am enjoying a bit more of ‘normal’ paced life. We are settling into a new routine as a married couple and continue to learn more about each other.
We had a very special day celebrating our wedding in May. It was lovely to have more people than we thought being able to celebrate with us. Friends from Arequipa and other parts of Peru came to be with us, as well as Lima friends and family and our parents. I am extremely grateful for the support of friends here in Peru, not least in the wedding planning!

I continue to settle into a church here in Lima. During the pandemic I was able to connect online to their small group meetings and that was a huge help as when we finally got back to in-person meetings I felt I already knew a few of the group. We are part of a lovely small group which is a mix of those exploring and those wanting to grow in their faith. It’s a place where community is being sought, for which I am thankful.
At the moment there are two striders in Peru that I support, and it is hoped to have three more start their time with us before the end of the year. Currently, I am preparing their language studies, placements and orientations amongst other things. I am also in conversations about Step Teams, and am excited about possible plans for 2023 and beyond.
I am working closely with Maria, our mission mobiliser. It’s great to have her and her enthusiasm in this role. Please pray for us as we develop some projects over the coming months which will be aimed at encouraging and assisting local churches engage more in mission, be that in Peru or elsewhere.

We will be sending ‘E’ to Spain at the end of September. It’s not been an easy or smooth process but God has been good and faithful. ‘E’ was recently granted her visa and is getting ready to serve for two years as a strider, working with a local church and their outreach. She was able to share with her present church what she is going to be doing (photo above). It’s been a privilege to support her in this final stage of organizing and preparing before she leaves Peru. I am looking forward to see and hear what God has prepared for her over the next few years. Please pray for her in her goodbyes with family and friends.
Thank you for your support and prayers,
– For a really special day celebrating our wedding in Peru
– For the provision of a lovely flat we can make our home
– For all that God is doing in the lives of our striders
– For the striders in Peru and those about to start and all the pre-arrival preparations
– For the plans for the different step teams in 2023
– For Carlos and I as we continue to get to know each other better and settle into married life
I am the Latin Link Short Term Coordiantor (STC) for Peru. The STC coordinates the Step (teams) and Stride (people) programmes, placing them in projects lasting from a few weeks to two years. Now based in Lima, I will be getting involved in a local church and my local community.
